Austin E. Lammey

Austin E. Lammey, 102 years and 14 days of Elverson, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the Pocopson Home in West Chester, PA.

He was born in West Nanmeal Twp., Chester Co., PA on Tuesday, February 8, 1921. Austin was the son of the late Park and Retta (Fisher) Lammey.  He was the husband of the late Mary H. (Houck) Lammey, who passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022.

Austin and Mary were the proprietors of The General Store in Loags Corner for twenty years. He also was a farmer, painter, and a machinist during his lifetime.  Austin was an active member of the Goodwill United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for many years. He was a talented baseball pitcher and enjoyed playing baseball for many years.   Austin also enjoyed hunting and trapping in his younger years.

Surviving are three sons, Ronald Lammey of Elverson, Randall Lammey of Elverson, and Curtis Lammey of Elverson. There are five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 2 PM at the Goodwill United Methodist Church, 148 Church Road, Elverson, PA 19520, with Pastor Bradley Miller officiating. Interment will be at the adjoining cemetery. A calling hour will be held one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Austin to Goodwill United Methodist Church at the above address.

My parents are Gene and Pearl Whitehead , My grandmother was Gladys Whitehead . I’m their youngest daughter, I grew up at Grubbs park across the street and I knew mr and Mrs Lammey , use to catch the school bus there at the store , so many many good memories there. So sorry for his family’s loss . Wow this 202 what an awesome man so sorry I did not know mrs passed last year ????????
