Carol Dorothy Elston, 87 yrs., Elverson, died on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at The Devon Sr. Living, following a long illness.
Carol was born on May 19, 1926 in Glenmoore, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Leslie and Marian (Hartenstine) Philips. Carol was the wife of the late Harry S. Elston, who died in May of 2009.
She was a graduate of the Warwick High School, Class of 1944 and The Delaware School of Cosmetology in 1945. Carol was a hairdresser at the Sky Top Lodge in the Pocono’s from 1945 to 1948. Carol was also a homemaker to her beloved family.
She was an avid foxhunter and was a member of the Robert Cochran Hunt Club of Cochranville and the Bellwood Hunt Club of Glenmoore.
Carol had a great passion for horses and dogs. She was a member of the Brandywine Valley Driving Club of Chester County; Red Rose Horse & Pony Driving Club of Lancaster; the Norwegian Fjord Horse Club; the American Driving Society and the Berks County Dog Training Club.
Carol is survived by her son, Gary C. Elston of Elverson, 2 half brothers, John and Glen Philips. Also by 2 grandsons, Daniel & Andy Elston and a great grandson, Tyler Elston all of Elverson.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 10:30 AM from The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, Pa. with Pastor Lester M. Groves officiating. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
