Remembering Rev. Richard Allan Sutton

Rev. Richard Allan Sutton

 

The Reverend Richard Allan Sutton, 65 yrs., of Honey Brook, PA, passed away peacefully under the care of his beloved family and Neighborhood Hospice at his home on Sunday, April 1, 2012.


He was born on October 1, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA and was the son of the late Harold A. Sutton and Irene Teitsworth Sutton.   He was the brother of Donald Sutton of Charlotte, NC.  He is survived by his wife, Carol McKee Sutton, a daughter, Wendy Shackleford (married to James Shackleford) of Canal Winchester, OH and a son, Jeffery Sutton (married to Danielle Conley), of Burlington, MA.  He has two grandsons, James Nathan and Matthew Allan Shackleford.

 

Rich was a graduate of Roxborough High School in Philadelphia, West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, WV, Methodist Theological School in Delaware, OH, and Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ.


He was a pastor for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church for 40 years, serving churches in Hatboro, Olney, Lawndale, Radnor, Springfield, Glenmoore, Spring City and Thorndale. Rich enjoyed woodworking, fishing, boating, gardening, and singing which included a stint with the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia and the Chancel Choir of Calvary Lutheran Church.

 

Rich has donated his body to the Human Gifts Registry of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and will be going to the Milton Hershey Medical Center. 

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 1 PM at Calvary Lutheran Church, 730 South New Street, West Chester, PA  19382  with Pastor Dan Krewson officiating.


In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in the memory of Rich to the Neighborhood Hospice, 400 East Marshall Street, West Chester, Pa. 19380 or www.nvnacc.com
