Daniel P. Brookes

Daniel Paul Brookes, 78, went “home” to be with his Lord October 5, 2018. He was the husband of Miriam “Mimsie” Cadman Brookes and the late Phyllis “Penny” (Rommel) Brookes.

Dan was born February 23, 1940 to the late Edward and Lillian (Morgan) Brookes in Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital, Darby PA.

He is survived by his wife Mimsie, step children Wendy Arters, Clayton, NJ, Lee Arters and husband Carl Lauro, New York, NY, Stephen Arters and wife Lynn, Sarasota, FL and grandchildren Kyle, Charissa, Garrett and Mackenzie Arters, brother Philip Brookes of Springfield, PA. He is predeceased by brothers James “Jim” Brookes, Rowan “Rip” Brookes and sister Lois Haynie. Dan graduated from Collingdale High School and attended PCB now Carin University. He served in the Army Reserves for 6 years in the 1960’s.

Dan married Penny on October 23, 1965. They lived in Aldan, PA where they both were majorly involved in the youth and seniors of Aldan Union Church, along with many other aspects of the church ministry . Hospitality as a team was their “middle name”. They were a devoted couple during their 25 years of marriage including the last five years of Penny’s battle with cancer.

Dan married Mimsie on February 28, 1992 where they lived together in Aldan until moving to Tel Hai Retirement Community, Honey Brook, PA in 2008. Dan and Mimsie while living in Aldan continued attending together their churches, Aldan Union Church and The Blue Church, each Sunday and were active in many aspects of the churches ministries of hospitality and missions. After moving to Tel Hai they continued to be a team, participating in telling the Tel Hai story, greeting new residents, volunteering and enhancing their community with friendliness. They began worshipping at Christian Fellowship Church of New Holland and continued sharing their welcoming personality and friendliness.

Dan will be remembered for his love of holidays and sharing them with family and friends. Most importantly he will be remembered for his love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 4 PM from the Chapel at the Tel Hai Retirement Community, 2900 Tel Hai Circle, Honey Brook, Pa., with Pastor Tim Herr officiating.
