James T. “Jim” Burkey, Jr., 63 yrs., of Downingtown, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019 at his home, while under the loving care of his family and hospice.
He was born on Monday, January 23, 1956 in West Chester, Pa. Jim was the son of the late James T. Sr. and Annabelle (Plank) Burkey. He was the husband of Cheryl T. “Cherrie’ (Trego) Burkey, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.
Jim was a welder for 15 years with Timet of Morgantown. He loved his Ford Classic Mustang and was a member of the Cruisin Classics of Chester County.
Jim was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jenna Anderson.
He is survived in addition to his wife by two daughters, Tammi L Isaacs of Honey Brook and Michelle L.(Kevin) Anderson of Coatesville, a brother, Gary Burkey, Sr. of Coatesville and a sister, Carol Dempsey of Glenmoore. There are two grandsons, Cole and Ethan.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 11 AM at the Glenmoore United Methodist Church, 1920 Creek Road, Glenmoore, Pa., with Pastor John Neider officiating. Interment will follow at the adjoining cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 11 AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Jim to either the Glenmoore United Methodist Church, PO Box 37, Glenmore, Pa. 19343-0037 or the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, Pa. 19380.
