Shirley M. Long

Shirley M. Long, 93 yrs., of Honey Brook, formerly of Altoona, King of Prussia and Malvern, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Heatherwood of Honey Brook, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Altoona, Pa. on Monday, May 31, 1926. Shirley was the daughter of the late Carl and Freda Moreland.

She was the wife of the late Clifford R. Long, Sr, who died on June 3, of this year. Shirley and Clifford were a true American Love Story. They started dating in their teens, marriage in their 20’s and lived as husband and wife together for 74 years. They both spoke of their love for each other every day of their life.

Shirley was a homemaker to her beloved family. She was a member of a homemaker’s group in KOP, started a book club in Malvern that still meets today and enjoyed playing bridge. Anyone that knew Shirley, would know that a good time was to be had at any social event, she was the Queen of entertaining. Most of all Shirley loved her family and friends.

Church services on Sunday and church activities were important to her. Shirley was active at St. James Lutheran in Altoona, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in KOP and Messiah Lutheran Church in Downingtown.

Surviving is a son, Clifford R. Jr. and his wife Kirby Long of Gap and a daughter, Patricia Long Patterson of Warwick, NY. There are four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A private interment in Altoona will be held at the convenience of the family.
