Bettye B. Ulmann

Bettye B. Ulmann of Tel Hai Retirement Community , Honey Brook Pennsylvania died peacefully on Thursday morning, February 20, 2020 in Meadows Health Care at Tel Hai.  She was 98 years old.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama she was the daughter of the late Charles and Flo Brooks of Newport News, Virginia.  She was married to Edward F. Ulmann for 65 years. Mr. Ulmann died in 2009.

She graduated from Phillips High School in Birmingham, Alabama and attended Radford College in Radford, Virginia. She was a homemaker and served as a secretary at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA which became NASA) at Langley Field, Virginia and at the Headquarters of the American Baptist Churches in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.

Bettye was a member of the Living God Lutheran Church of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania and was previously a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Exton, Pennsylvania where she served as United Thank Offering administrator for ten years. She was coordinator of the Prayer Chain for Living God Church for six years and she was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for five years.

Surviving are a son, Charles Ulmann of West Chester, Pennsylvania, married to Mary Ann Price Ulmann, and a daughter, Barbara Flo Ulmann Sindico, married to Domenico Sindico of Torino, Italy. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Francesco Sindico (Maria) of Glasgow, Scotland and Elizabeth Ulmann McCuen(Patrick) of Berwyn, Pennsylvania. Bettye also had three great grandchildren, Julia and Ana Sindico of Glasgow, Scotland and William McCuen of Berwyn, Pennsylvania.

Plans for a memorial service are on hold until concern over the COVID-19 coronavirus fades. The service details will be posted on www.thelabsfh.com/obituaries.

In Lieu of Flowers, donations in Bettye’s memory may be made to the Tel Hai Continuing Care Fund, Tel Hai Retirement Community, P. O. Box 190 Honey Brook, Pennsylvania 19344.
