Edward R. Hartz

Edward R. “Eddie” Hartz, 85 yrs., of Morgantown, died unexpectedly on Thursday December 24, 2020 at his home.

He was born in Elverson on April 15, 1935. Eddie was the son of the late Daniel and Mattie (King) Hartz.  He was the husband of the late MaryAnn Bier Hartz, who died on July 26, 2004.

Moon Dog, as he was known to many, worked for over 60 years as a truck driver at the Elverson Supply Company. He was a lifetime member of the Elverson/Twin Valley Fire Companies.  Edie attended the Elverson Methodist Church.  He enjoyed his Harley-Davison motorcycle, Phillies baseball, a good joke and would help area farmers with the catching and crating of chickens. 

Surviving are two sons, Hank E. (Karen Landis) Hartz of Morgantown and Mark D. (Rebecca) Hartz of Lancaster, a daughter, Della A. Delaquito of Douglasville, and a sister, Cora M. Hartz of Elverson.  There are four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 12 PM from the Elverson United Methodist Cemetery with Pastor Collen Painter officiating. Attendees are reminded of the COVID-19 pandemic guidelines and are kindly asked to wear a mask and observe physical distancing and contact.

Hank, Brynn and I are so sorry to hear of your loss. Ed was a great man, he didn't say much but he had a great sense of humor. We will miss him dearly but will hold his memories forever in our hearts. Hold onto the loving memories and know your mom & dad are together again. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Thanking about the family and the good memories we all had together at Thanksgiving every year when we were younger. Will miss Uncle Ed the quiet man he was but when he spoke he made since that I think about always My Thoughts and prayers are with all my cousins and Aunt Cora.and all the family and friends that Uncle Ed had touch in their lives.
