George A. Overholtzer

George A. Overholtzer, 94 years of Honey Brook, formerly of Pottstown, died on Monday, February 8, 2021 at his home, while under the loving care of hospice.

He was born on Monday, March 1, 1926 in Gilbertsville. George was the son of the late George Washington and Lydia (Heydt) Overholtzer.

George was a vice-president at Hill Financial Savings and Loan of Pottstown. He was a US Navy veteran of WW II. George was a graduate of the former Philadelphia Military College, now known as Widener University. He was a member of the St. Joseph (Hill) Lutheran Church, where he served on various committees of the church. George was also a member of the Bellwood Hunting Club from 1963 to 2012 and the Pottstown Rotary Club from 1984 to 2012. He received the honor of being granted the Paul Harris Fellow award from Rotary Club International in 1999. George was an avid golfer and fox hunter.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Overholtzer.

George is survived by his wife, Betty L. (Pursel) Overholtzer, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.

A memorial service will be held later, due to the current Covid 19 virus, and for the concerns of minimizing the spread of the virus.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of George to the charity of your choosing.
