Dayton “Chubby” Shores, Jr., 78 yrs., of Honey Brook, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at his home, while under the loving care of his family and hospice.
He was born on Friday, December 4, 1942 in East Whiteland Twp., Chester County. Chubby was the son of the late Dayton Sr. and Winifred Mae (Baldwin) Shores. He was the devoted husband of Jo Ann (Good) Shores, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.
Chubby started his life as a truck driver. He later built a garage to store and work on his truck. After the trucking company he was working for fell on some hard times, he started to work on cars for friends in his garage. Today that garage is known as Shores Automotive and is a 2nd generation provider of mechanical and auto body repair needs. He enjoyed hunting, dogs, and a winning trip to the casino. Chubby loved his grandchildren and enjoyed time spent with them.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Mae Shores.
In addition to his wife, he is survived and deeply missed by his three sons, Dayton III and his wife Patti Shores of Narvon, Robert and his wife Stephanie Shores of Honey Brook, and Greg and his wife Lauren Shores of Elverson and a brother, Dennis Shores of North Carolina. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Annelise, Haylee, Olivia, Gavin, and Aidan.
A calling hour will be held Friday, February 26, 2021 from 6 to 8 PM at The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, Pa. Attendees are reminded of the COVID-19 pandemic guidelines and are kindly asked to wear a mask and observe physical distancing.
The funeral service and interment will be held privately at the convenience, due to the Covid 19 virus restrictions and safety for all concerned.
Memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Chubby to the Chester County SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Road, West Chester, Pa. 19380.
