Dr. John M. Cassidy

Dr John Milton Cassidy, 82, of Morgantown, Pennsylvania passed and promptly made his last appointment to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 23, 2021.

John was born in Birmingham, Michigan on July 12, 1939. He graduated from Bob Jones University and received his PHD from Florida State University. He was a talented Christian business man who used his gifts for the glory of God across many fields and ventures; a career which spanned from his youth till his death. He also spent many of his years in work that reflected his commitment to Christian education.

John’s life was characterized by a great love for God and His Word. He was a faithful husband to his wife and best friend, Evie, for 60 years. John dearly cared and prayed fervently for his children and grandchildren. He loved and served the people of High Point Baptist Chapel as a deacon and member for many years. To the end of his life John strived to have purpose and meaning that contributed to God’s kingdom. Most importantly, his eternal hope was in his Savior, Jesus Christ; and that hope has been gloriously realized!

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?... in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:35a, 37-39

John is preceded in death by his parents; Robert and Elizabeth Cassidy; his brother, David Cassidy (infant death); and his sister, Marianne Pond. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Cassidy, his sister Susan (Mel) Wilhoit, children Steve Cassidy, Tedd (Meredith) Cassidy, Christy (Mike) Runey, Wendy (Cameron) Luttmann. John has 7 grandchildren: Vitya Cassidy, Daniel and Jack Cassidy, Sarah, Rebekah, Peter, and Caleb Runey.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to Orphan’s Hope; a ministry headed by Steve Cassidy (son) that champions the care of orphans worldwide: Orphan's Hope - https://www.OrphansHope.org

Service and burial are being arranged by the family and will be forthcoming. Arrangements were entrusted to Labs Funeral Home, Honey Brook, PA. Online condolences can be made at www.thelabsfh.com

To the Cassidy and Runey families, our deepest condolences to you during this difficult time. I've recently been reunited with Christy and Mike on an AT hike with our West Point classmates. Her father has no doubt been a powerful and loving influence in their lives. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. Mark and Mylinh Shattan

John was a friend for many years. I worked with him first when I was a State Rep. and later in the Penngift Scholarship Foundation. He was a genleman and a committed believer in Christ who wanted to be known as a man who served God faithfully in promoting Christian education. We certainly could use more men like him in this world. See you again some day, my friend.

Cassidy Family, I had the privilege to work next door to John for over 3 years as part of the American Pastors Network. I enjoyed getting to know John as we interacted on an almost daily basis. My condolences to your family in this loss. I have been and will be praying that the Lord bring you all peace and comfort in the days, weeks, months, and years to come.
