Dan  McClure, Jr.

Dan McClure, Jr., 86 years of Honey Brook, formerly of El Paso, TX died on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at his home, while under the loving care of his family and hospice.

 Dan was born in El Paso, TX on Sept. 10, 1935.  He was the son of Dan Sr. and Margarita (Gonzalez) McClure.  Dan was the husband of Rebecca E. “Becky” (Schaffer) McClure, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. 

He was a professional engineer during his lifetime. Dan worked as a mining engineer, a metallurgical engineer, and as an engineer for McDonald Douglas during the Mercury and Gemini Space Programs.  He also worked during his education years for the El Paso Times.  Dan was also a professional photographer. Becky and he were members of Campers on Mission, a mission supported by the Southern Baptist Church.  During their time with the mission, they worked in 37 states, following major weather events. He graduated in 1954 from Jefferson High School and from Texas Western College in 1960.

He was preceded in death by four siblings, Ofelia Morales, Esperanza Ramirez, Ernestina Duran, and Ralph Jaquez.

Surviving in addition to his wife, is a son, Dan McClure of Fleetwood, Pa. and a daughter, Debbie (Tim) Bowden of Stowe, Pa.  There are three grandchildren, Eric Bowden, Christine Schmidt, and Bryan Bowden and two great grandchildren, Bridget and Norah and a very special "adopted" granddaughter, Devonna.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 10 AM from the Churchtown United Methodist Cemetery, Rt. # 23, Narvon, Pa., with Pastor William “Bill” Muller officiating.  There will be no viewing or funeral home service.
