Charles F. "Charlie" Burrell

Charles F. Burrell, 62, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021, at the Hometown Nursing and Rehab. Center, Hometown, PA, where he had been a resident since March 2019.

Charlie was born in Coaldale, PA on Friday, April 10, 1959. He was the son of the late Robert Sr. and Alice (Walburn) Burrell. Charlie was the husband of Janet (Hinkle) Burrell and the couple celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary on April 10, 2021. Charlie and Janet worshipped together and are members of St. John XXIII (formerly St. Jerome’s) R.C. Church in Tamaqua, PA.

He graduated in 1977 from the Schuylkill County IU29 School in Pottsville, PA. Charlie was employed by the Borough of Tamaqua for over 35 years before he fell ill. He had a lifelong interest in trains and was very knowledgeable about the various types of passenger and freight trains that moved through our area. He was also an animal lover and spoke fondly of the pet dogs that enriched his life through the years.

In addition to his mother and father, Charlie was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Burrell, Jr. and brother Joseph Burrell.

Survivors in addition to his widow are his mother-in-law, Josephine Hinkle of Tamaqua, Pa. and a sister-in-law, Francine (Jeffrey) Eames of Exton, Pa. and cousins of both the Walburn and Burrell families.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 10 AM from The Church of St. Richard of Chichester, 799 Barnesville Roads, Barnesville, Pa. 18214.
