Elmer Shepherd, 91 years, of Honey Brook, died on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at his home, while under the loving care of his family and hospice.
He was born in White Top, VA on Monday, November 24, 1930. Elmer was the son of the late Earl and Lillie Bell (Dishman) Shepherd. He was the husband of Alice E. (Henderson) Shepherd, with whom he shared 71 years of marriage.
Elmer was the plant manager for the Gantry Company of Malvern. He also was a mechanic and welder. Elmer enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to the family cabin in Cambria County. He was known to many as Mr. Fit It, due to his talent at repairing everything.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne Shepherd, Blaine Shepherd, and Howard “Jack” Shepherd and a great grandson, Noah Stephens.
He is survived in addition to his wife, by four daughters, Judy (Don Grenier) Davis of Flying Hills, Margie (Reah) Wallace of Frankford, De., Nancy (the late Larry) Creed of Cochranville, and Cathy Riffey of Morgantown, a brother, Rev. Wilmer Shepherd of Elk Creek, VA and a sister, Mabel Shephard of Honey Brook. There are 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021 at 11 AM at The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, Pa., with Pastor Mark Beideman officiating. Interment will follow at the Elverson Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home.
