Jean M. Cooper

Jean M. Cooper, 85 years of Lititz, formerly of Elverson, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 22, 2022, at her home. 

She was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on July 4, 1936.  Jean was the daughter of the late James D. & Sara E. (Lynch) Murray.  She was the loving wife of Roger W. Cooper, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.

Jean was a homemaker to her beloved family. She was a graduate of the West Philadelphia High School, Class of 1954.    Jean attended the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.  She was a member of Calvary Church of Lancaster.  Jean enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking pies, knitting and crocheting.  

She is survived by four daughters, Judy (William) Neef and Amy Beth (Peter) Pomata all of Havertown, Pa., Debbie (Wayne) Rasmussen of California and Sandy (Timothy) Dunn of Springfield, Va., a brother Joseph Murray of Arizona and three sisters: Dorothy Sanzare of Florida, Anne Steslicke of Detroit, Mi., and Gail Gowdy of Melbourne Beach, Fl.    There are 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 1:00 PM from Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, Pa., with Pastor Steven Kilgore officiating.  The family may receive friends following the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in the memory of Jean to Spruce Street Baptist Church 3701 Gradyville Road, Newtown Square, PA 19073

It was because of Jean that I came to know the Lord as my Savior. Her smile, her joy, her countenance all showed me that she had a personal relationship with my Lord. I prayed for her and also Roger every day. She was always an encourager. I miss her. Lois MacQuarrie
