Martha H. Brown, 84 years, Morgantown, died peacefully on Friday, June 10, 2022, at Paoli Hospital, while under the loving care of her family and hospice.
She was born in Bryn Mawr, Pa. on December 4, 1937. Martha was the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret (Zinn) Hargreaves. She was the wife of Carl P. Brown, Jr., with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.
Martha was a homemaker to her beloved family. Martha was a graduate of Wheaton College and received a master’s degree from Temple University. She was an active member of the Brick Lane Community Church. Martha enjoyed playing tennis, doing crossword puzzles, working in her garden, spending time with her grandchildren, daily drives with Carl through French Creek State Park, and working at her church.
She was preceded in death by four siblings, Sheila Hargreaves, Barbara Robinson, Robin Bruce, and Bart Hargreaves.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Phillip and his wife Mitzi Brown of Doylestown and Timothy and his wife Kimberly Brown of Morgantown and a sister, Louise and her husband the late Bruce Lavenau of Wood Dale, IL. There are seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 11 AM at the Brick Lane Community Church, 52 South Brick Lane, PO Box 299, Elverson, Pa. with Pastor Steve Estes officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. A private interment will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery with Pastor Al Kimball officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Martha to Brick Lane Community Church with memo line, “Preference for Missions.”
