Alice M. (Cluff) Ingalls

Alice M. (Cluff) Ingalls, 83, of West Chester passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the Watermark at Bellingham. Born in Springfield, Vermont, she was a daughter of the late Ivan and Madeline (Noyes) Cluff. Alice was the loving wife to Arthur C. 'Bud' Ingalls until his passing in 2006.

Alice graduated from Champlain College in 1960. After graduating, Alice worked as a bookkeeper for doctor’s offices and other businesses as she moved her family from Vermont to New Jersey, and finally settled in the northeastern part of Pennsylvania for almost 50 years. Alice enjoyed being around people and picked up part time work at Walmart until she officially retired in 2018. Alice and Bud were the perfect ying and yang, always balancing each other out with Bud’s calm and patient demeanor, and Alice’s strong and confident personality. The two were known as “Grammy Ali” and “Papa Bud” by all their loved ones. Alice enjoyed antiques and was often found visiting flee markets, antique stores, and yard sales. She loved listening to Elvis Presley and being around her cats. Alice was always known for being very well put together before going out and preferred to always look proper and presentable no matter who she was planning on being around. Alice loved her family, and they will miss her dearly.

Alice is survived by two children, Randy (Kimberly) Robinson of Reading, Kelly (Richard) Ingalls-Oakes of West Chester; four grandchildren, Kirstyn (Shane), Samantha (Harry), Erin (Sam), and Ian; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and McKenna; and one sister, Joanne Young of Chester, Vermont.

A private family graveside will be held at Elverson Methodist Cemetery.

Add My Condolences

My deepest condolences to Alice's family. Alice was a lovely woman whom I had the pleasure to work with for 13 years. She and I were friends and my young daughter and I often visited with her. I am sad to hear of her passing. Please know she was special to me and will be missed. You are all in my thoughts.
