Hazel  Hamm

Hazel (Shephard) Hamm, 95 years of age of Honey Brook, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Hickory House Nursing Center, following an illness.

She was born on Friday, November 30, 1928 in White Top, Va. Hazel was the daughter of the late Roe & Eliza (Tucker) Shephard. She was the wife of the late Walter Douglas Hamm, with died in 1995.

Hazel was a homemaker to her beloved family. She also worked as a young lady, at her father’s General Store, in White Top. Va. Later Hazel worked at the Pa. Turnpike Howard Johnsons, later becoming a Marriott/Host Company, as the head cashier. She was a member of the Rockville Mennonite Church. Hazel enjoyed gardening, and time with her dear family.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Barbara J. Miller on April 29, 2021, and a grandson Rickey and nine siblings.

Hazel is survived by her son, Michael and his wife Lynne of Honey Brook and a daughter, Joyce and her husband John Layton of Elverson. There are 5 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 11 AM at The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, Pa. 19344, with Pastor Todd Baisley officiating. Interment will follow at the Harmony Methodist Cemetery in Morgantown. A calling hour will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Hazel to the Rockville Mennonite Church, 210 Cupola Road, Honey Brook, PA 19344.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Hazel and caring for her over the past few years, and will miss seeing her. She has always told me how ready she was to see her loved ones up in heaven. Happy that she is with them now. Condolences to her special family.
