Elizabeth J. "Betty June" Means

Elizabeth J. “Betty June” Means, 92 years of Honey Brook, Pa., passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Tel Hai Retirement Community.

She was born in Honey Brook on Wednesday, June 1, 1932.  Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Earl Stauffer, Sr. and Anna Mary (Groff) Stauffer.   She was the wife of the late Raymond Means, who died on February 16, 2008.

Elizabeth was a host at the former Howard Johnson’s Restaurant.   She was also the tax collector of Honey Brook Township for many years. Elizabeth was a lifetime member of the Honey Brook Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed her flower gardens and was a volunteer for Steeple to People.   Elizabeth was known for her homemade cooking and baking, especially her delicious pies.   She loved to host family events and parties.  Elizabeth treasured spending time with her beloved family.

  She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Earl Stauffer, Jr, George Stauffer, Sr. and Joseph Stauffer and her sister, Grace Sands.  

Elizabeth is survived by a son, Donald and his wife, Libbie Means of Morgantown, a daughter, Sharon M. and her husband, Bill Weaver of Narvon and a sister, Anna Wright of Compass.    There are three grandchildren, Debra (Ralph) Phillips, Scott (MJ) Means and Jill (Jason) Lowry and six great grandchildren, Julia Phillips, Adam Phillps, Henry Phillips, Audrey Phillips and Kassidy Means and Madelyn Lowry.  

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11AM from Honey Brook Presbyterian Church, 4331 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, Pa. with Pastor Sam Massey officiating.  Interment will be at the Honey Brook Methodist Cemetery.  A calling hour will be held one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Elizabeth to the Honey Brook Presbyterian Church, PO Box 276, Honey Brook, Pa.  19344-0276.
