Frank Robert "Bob" Lilley, Sr.

Frank Robert “Bob” Lilley, Sr. age 88, of Glenmoore, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday evening, November 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, following an illness.

He was born on Friday, April 9, 1937, on Reeds Road, Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Bob was the son of the late Frank R. and Ethel M. (Miller) Lilley. Bob was raised by his grandparents, the late Warren Lammey and Elsie B. (Brimmer) Miller, whom he referred to as his father and mother.  He was the devoted husband of the late Barbara J. (McElroy) Lilley, who died on March 17, 2019.   They were married for 61 years. 

Bob worked as a carpenter/painter for 11 years from 1955 to 1966, building and fixing many homes in the Glenmoore, Morgantown and Elverson areas. On August 1, 1966, Bob changed careers and started 33 years of work and service at the Devereaux School.   He was the head of transportation for the Glenmoore Unit and retired from Devereaux in April of 1999.  He also worked a second job at the Farr Away Farm in Glenmoore.  In retirement Bob got a part-time job for 20 plus years at St. Mary’s of Providence cutting grass and working in the maintenance department.  Bob also worked for West Nantmeal Township as the tax assessor and helped with the road maintenance primarily in the winter plowing snow.  Bob was a graduate of Warwick High School (now Owen J. Roberts), class of 1955.  While he was in high school, he was a three-sport athlete in soccer, basketball and baseball: earning many varsity letters in each sport.

He was very active for many years in youth programs at Goodwill UMC and a boy scout leader.  He coached many successful youth baseball players teams.  He also helped coach many Elverson championship teams and developed a lot of good young men and baseball players.  Bob also was a very good player for adult baseball and fast pitch softball teams.  He didn’t stop playing and coaching until well into his 60’s.

Bob was a lifetime member of the Fightin’ 48 Glenmoore Fire Company.  Bob was also a 62-year-old member Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge #446 Mt. Pickering in Eagle, Pa. with the 32nd degree.  He was a member of the Elverson Rod Gun club since 1997.  Bob was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of St. Peters and previous member of Goodwill United Methodist Church.  Bob was also a founding member of the Twin Valley Soccer Club (1973) and a founding committee member of the West Nantmeal Recreational Board (1973) that gave us the West Nantmeal Park.

He enjoyed time with his beloved family, hunting, fishing and the great outdoors of Pennsylvania.  Bob also enjoyed coin collecting with his Uncle Ralph Ott and son Frank. 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Frank R. Lilley and his wife Hilda Minerva (Barr) Lilley (stepmother), and his mother Ethel M. (Lilley/ Miller) Mummert and stepfather Allen W. Mummert, Sr., his wife Barbara J. Lilley (McElroy), and son Ronald Lynn Lilley, a sister, June D. (Mummert) and her husband Carl W. Pavolic, a brother, Gordon S. and his wife Elizabeth (Heisey) Lilley, a brother in law, Charles Mattson, a brother in law, William A. Mason, a brother in law, James J. Lalli, and a sister in law, Sallie Mummert.  

Bob is survived by his son, Frank R. Lilley, Jr. and his wife, Debra C. (Nuse) Lilley of Glenmoore, a sister, Jean A. Mummert of Coatesville, a brother, Allen W. Mummert of Coatesville, a sister Jane and her husband, Fred Glew of Abbeville, SC, a sister, Judith M. Mason of Branson, MI and  a sister, Elaine J. (Lilley)Lalli of Chandler, AZ.  There are 6 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and 46 nieces and nephews many cousins. 

A masonic service will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at 2 PM at Goodwill United Methodist Church, 148 Church Road, Elverson, Pa.  19520. A funeral service will follow, with Pastor Leonard Lewis and Pastor Brad Miller officiating.  Interment will follow at the adjoining cemetery.  The internment is open to all to attend.   Following the interment service, the Lilley family would like to welcome everyone to celebrate the life of Frank Robert “Bob” Lilley.  The celebration will be held at the Holiday Inn, 6170 Morgantown Road, Morgantown, Pa.  19543.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 7 to 9 PM at The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, Pa.  19344 and on Sunday from 1 to 2 PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Bob to either First Baptist Church of St. Peters, (New Roof) 2860 Saint Peters Road, Pottstown, Pa.  19465 or Brandywine SPCA, (Bob’s love for animals) 1212 Phoenixville Road, West Chester, Pa.  19380.

Sorry to hear of Bob’s Passing. Bob was a great Baseball mind. Got to know Him, Frank and Ron playing for Honey Brook. Bob coached Elverson.. He will be missed.

Poppop will always be remembered for the love he has for everyone and the guidance he gave because he saw the potential and wanted you to be great in whatever it is he was cheering for on the sidelines. He never sugar-coated his words and when you shook his hand, he expected the same meaning in return. My sincere condolences to all who knew and loved him.
