Robert Theodore "Ted" Taylor

Robert Theodore(Ted) Taylor, loving husband, father and grandfather, of Elverson Pennsylvania, passed away at age 85, on Saturday, March 21, at Reading Hospital. He was born in Philadelphia PA on July 1, 1940. Ted was the son of the late Robert B. Taylor and Matilda(Hartin)Taylor of Newton Square, PA.

Ted, the eldest of three, is survived by sister Deborah L.Taylor, and predeceased by Gregory Taylor who passed in 2005.

Ted grew up in Newton Square, PA and graduated from Marple-Newtown High School, where he lettered in Track and Field. He was an active member in Young Life during his high school years. It was at Young Life where he met his loving wife of 63 years Elizabeth Ann (Scott) Taylor.

Ted and Ann were married in 1963 and resided in Delaware County from 1963-1977. In 1977 Ted and Ann moved to Elverson where they remain to this day.

Ted was a proud veteran who served in United States Army for three years from 1959-1962. He was awarded several badges during his service including marksmen and sharpshooter. He achieved the rank of Specialist E-5. His tours in the service included stints in Japan, Korea, and Guam in addition to other stops in the Far East.

Ted was employee of Philadelphia Electric Company for close to thirty years. For many years he worked as a programmer at Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland (PJM) Interconnection in Valley Forge, PA. While working at PECO, Ted attended classes at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

His memory is carried on by a large and loving family: In addition to wife Ann, Ted is survived by his children Bradley S. and wife Linda, Douglas T. and wife Tammy, and Kim E. (widow of Brent W. Collins). He is also survived by cherished grandchildren Laura (Taylor) Walsh, Jebediah Douglas, Shannon Claire, Jessie Rae(Taylor)Kalik, Phoebe Elizabeth Collins and Silas-Robert T. Collins.

Growing up in the Philly suburbs, he was a life-long Eagles fan. At one time holding season tickets at the Vet, he never thought that he would see the day that they would win one Super Bowl, let alone two!

One of Ted's favorite places to spend time was at the family's second home, 'The Cove' near Chestertown, MD. Many days were spent on the water boating, fishing, tubing, and watching sunsets with his family.

Please join the family in celebrating his life at The Community Center in Summerfield: 249 Steeplechase Dr. Elverson PA, on Sunday, April 12th.
