Joan M. Rigg

Joan M. (Zynn) Rigg, 84 years of Honey Brook, formerly of Brandamore, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Meadows Health Care Center at Tel Hai Retirement Community. She was surrounded by her beloved family and cared for by the compassionate Tel Hai nursing staff.

Joan was born on Friday, September 13, 1941, in Honey Brook Twp., Chester Co., PA. She was the daughter of the late Oscar Boyd and Dorothy Marie (Welsh) Zynn. She was the wife of the late William A. “Bill” Rigg, Jr., who died on July 14, 2025. The two shared 65 beautiful years of marriage filled with partnership, adventure, and love.

She and Bill also delivered Meals on Wheels for 20 years. She was a lifelong member of Forks of the Brandywine Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Alongside her late husband Bill, she traveled to 49 of the 50 United States—riding a motorcycle through 47 of them—as well as numerous Canadian provinces, embracing the spirit of the open road. Joan also enjoyed gardening and canning with Bill. One season they put up over 400 quarts of spaghetti sauce using tomatoes from their 200 plants. She also enjoyed country line dancing.

Joan was preceded in death by her grandson, Coty Austin Rigg., a brother Larry Zynn and a brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Ford.

She is survived by her four sons: Barry (Jean) Rigg, Rodney (Kathy) Rigg, Walter (Shelly) Rigg, and Tim (Claudia) Rigg; three brothers: Ronald (Linda) Zynn, Raymond (Diane) Zynn and Michael (Heather) Zynn, a sister; Jean (Donald) Refford, and sister-in-laws, Dorothy Ford and Shirley Zynn. There are also 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM from the Forks of the Brandywine Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1648 Horseshoe Pike, Glenmoore, PA with Pastor David Hicks and Pastor Wesley Grubb officiating. Interment will be at the adjoining cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the church.

My deepest condolences to the Rigg family on the passing of Joan. She was such a wonderful lady, so sweet and a beautiful smile. I am so grateful to have the privilege to care for her and Bill during their time at Tel Hai. Their love for one another was unconditional and one that somebody would dream of. My most sincere condolences to the Rigg family. Joan was an admirable woman; her generosity and love for others knew no bounds. She welcomed my family and me with wonderful warmth and closeness. She leaves behind a great legacy of love, respect, and kindness. We will surely miss her, but I am certain that she is now enjoying the presence of the Lord, and that brings solace to the pain of her absence. A fraternal embrace to her family—especially to Tim Rigg, Claudia, and Carson.
