Mark V. Attanasio, known to many as “Ginzo,” passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 19th at 1:27 p.m., surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on May 27, 1956 in Philadelphia, PA to Betty and Vincent Attanasio, Mark grew up alongside his brother Michael and sister Maria. After finishing school, he began his career with the railroad, starting as a lineman and later becoming a foreman working on catenary lines.
Mark had a lifelong passion for trains. An “imagineer” at heart, Mark built a miniature train that ran around his property for his children and grandchildren to ride, and he poured his love of the rails into an extensive model train layout for his prewar Lionel and American Flyer collections.
Mark was known for his free spirit, his quick wit, grit, and his love of his family. He spent his days riding motorcycles, and working on projects in his garage, which he called “his church.” Summers were spent “down the shore” in Sea Isle City, NJ.
Mark is survived by his devoted wife, Lea; his daughters, Carly and Lauren, from his earlier marriage to Jeannie; his stepchildren, Elizabeth and David; his son-in-law, Kevin; his brother, Michael; and his sister, Maria. He leaves behind five grandchildren, Eli, Arthur, Leo, Noelle, and Junie, who adored him and knew him as their “Pappy Choo-Choo.”
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11am from The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave, Honey Brook, PA with Pastor Shelia Barber officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
Arrangements by the Labs Funeral Home, Inc.
