Anthony J. “Stretch” Gentile, 90 yrs., of Elverson, died on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 at Spruce Manor in West Reading, following an illness.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 7, 1921. Anthony was the son of the late John and Asunta (Terzano) Gentile. He was the husband of the late Leila R. (Linton) Gentile, who passed away on March 16, 2009.
Anthony in partner his late wife, were the owner of Anthony’s Diner in Coatesville from 1969 to 1977. He also served his country during WW II in the US Army. Prior to moving to Pa., Anthony was a tailor in New York.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers & 4 sisters.
Anthony is survived by his 6 sons, Richard Moyer of Morgantown, Anthony husband of Debra (Puff) Gentile of Mohnton, David husband of Dawn (Whiteman) Gentile of Birdsboro, Edward husband of Theresa (McGinn) Gentile of Elverson, Timothy husband of Teena (Cease) Gentile of Coatesville and Thomas husband of Paige (Johnson) Gentile of Alabaster, AL; 2 daughters, Asunta “Sue” wife of Frank Kremser of Elverson and Evelyn Nowotarski of Morgantown; a sister, Connie DeVito of Daytona Beach, FL. There are 21 grandchildren & 14 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at 11 AM from The Labs Funeral Home, Inc., 141 Pequea Ave., Honey Brook, Pa., with the Rev. Dr. Colleen Kristula officiating. Interment will follow at the Caernarvon Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 11 AM.
